The purpose and goals of the meeting were to engage and connect key stakeholders from all parts of the county with an interest in promoting improved behavioral health in Montgomery County while ensuring people with lived experience and their families are visible, vocal, and valued. In addition, the “Gathering for Action” identified what public and private behavioral health resources currently exist in Montgomery County, including resources addressing social determinants of health as well as where the gaps exist.

I was there to represent the families in Montgomery County and voice our support of the Crisis Intervention Teams (CIT) effort in Montgomery County led by the Precinct 1 Constable’s office and the need for an additional five more Deputy Constables to be trained in this program. Currently Constable Precinct 1 officers respond to mental health emergencies and serve mental health warrants for all of Montgomery County, along with their other duties.
